PEI, polyether imide
Polyether imide is amorphous with glass transition and heat distortion temperatures around 200 C. PEI is transparent with amber colour, known under the trade name Ultem, and is commonly used unfilled, or with 30% glass fibre reinforcement, which enhances the already good creep resistance at elevated temperatures. PEI is flame resistant, classed as UL94 V0 and with an oxygen index of 47%. It is resistant to hydrolysis (exceptionally well suited for autoclaving).
